FOSTERING BRASS CHAMBER MUSIC
Robert Wayne Posten
January 24, 1945 - June 10, 2020
With the death of our dear friend and colleague Robert “Rip” Posten, the musical world has lost one of its most tireless champions in the field of brass chamber music. A quintessentially selfless team player, he was uncompromising in his advocacy for the expansion of original brass quintet repertoire and faithful transcriptions of early music. As such, he could rightfully be called the heart and soul of the Annapolis Brass Quintet.
The outpouring of sympathy we have received confirms what we have always known about this totally unique individual. Much of that reaction is included below, along with photos taken in assorted ABQ journeys. This page is designed to serve as an ongoing tribute to his life and legacy.
