WE OFFER THIS VIRTUAL CONCERT FOR

THANKSGIVING DAY 2020

"Jesu, meine Freude" (Jesus, my Joy) is a hymn in German, written by Johann Franck in 1650.  The hymn is the basis for Johann Sebastian Bach's motet of the same name "Jesu, meine Freude" BWV 227.

As a prelude to all the Thanksgiving Day festivities, we suggest taking twenty minutes to relax and listen to the magnificent music of Bach: his motet "Jesu, meine Freude" (Jesus, my Joy) performed by the Western Wind Vocal Sextet and the Annapolis Brass Quintet.

I am thankful for my family,
My friends I feel the same.
Life is filled with many thanks.
Life is the perfect game.

Freedom from Want
Norman Rockwell

This is the third of the Four Freedoms series of four oil paintings by American artist Norman Rockwell.
The works were inspired by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1941 State of the Union Address, known as
Four Freedoms
freedom of speech, freedom of worship
freedom from fear, freedom from want
We receive this food in gratitude to all beings who have helped to bring it to our table. And vow to respond in turn to those in need with wisdom and compassion.

O praise the Lord of heaven.
Praise him in the height.
Praise him, all ye angels. Praise Jehovah.
Praise him, sun and moon and blazing comets: praise the Lord.
Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for he spake the word, and they were made; he commanded, and they were created. Admire.

Ye dragons whose contagious breath people the dark abodes of death,  Change your dire hissings into heav'nly songs, and praise your maker with your forked tongues.
O praise the Lord of heaven.

Fire, hail and snow, wind and storms, beasts and cattle, creeping insects, flying fowl, kings and princes, men and angels, fear the Lord.
Jew and gentile, male and female, bond and free, earth and heaven, land and water, praise the Lord.

Young men and maids, old men and babes, praise the Lord.  Join creation, preservation and redemption: join in one:  No exemption, nor dissension, one invention and intention  Reigns through the whole to praise the Lord:
Hallelujah; Hallelujah; Hallelujah; praise the Lord.  Hallelujah; Hallelujah; Hallelujah; praise the Lord.
