PETER CABUS "VARIETIES" (5'56")
"Varieties" (1971) by Peter Cabus
Peter Cabus sent his Varieties to the Annapolis Brass Quintet after
hearing a performance of his Elegie by the ensemble in Brussels.
ABQ Crystal S207 1978
*****
Varieties consists of a theme and nine short variations. The variations are linked by and build upon the work's opening four-note melodic motive. Although appearing harmonically and transposed into different registers and keys, this motive begins the theme and each variation.
To listen to this 1978 performance by the Annapolis Brass Quintet
recorded for its Crystal Records Album S207 'ENCOUNTER".
