Theme for a Carousel was played by the Annapolis Brass Quintet on its extended concert tour organized by Norm Wendt of Minneapolis. This tour of several upper midwest states was in January-February, 1994. As with all subsequent Wendt tours, we were contracted to perform 5 1/2 concerts per week (+ brass student workshops ). This tour, I remember as seven weeks with bookings in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan (and perhaps a dip down into Nebraska and up into Manitoba.)
Bob sent this digital recording file today along with three other pieces . . . about THEME for a CAROUSEL he thought, "this might be to just share with us in house." So...I've added this to the William Schmidt "Variations" page. - Both pieces are from the 1974 Chippewa Falls, concert which also featured the Kellerhouse's arrangement of American the Beautiful that we just posted on Memorial Day 2021.
I went to Google to find the name of the composer of Theme for a Carousel and, believe it or not, was directed to "The Annapolis Brass Quintet's Guide to Brass Quintet Literature" & there listed on page 7: McKie, Jack; Theme for a Carousel; Class (playing difficulty) Moderate.
No kidding!
So, why not give it an ear...it's only 02'59" long, and that includes an intro by Butch!
