JACK GALLAGHER "TOCCATA" (1970)
Jack Gallagher is an Amercian composer and college professor. He was born in Brooklyn, learned to play trumpet and accordion, and received his Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra and his Masters and DMA from Cornell University. His principal composition teachers were Elie Siegmeister, Robert Palmer, and Burrill Phillips.
Gallagher was the Olive Williams Kettering Professor of Music at The College of Wooster in Ohio where he taught composition, orchestration, counterpoint, and 20th-century music theory from 1977 until his retirement in 2012. His impressive number of compositions includes works for orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber groups, and vocal and instrumental solo pieces.
