Drawing upon their respective distinct musical styles, the Charlie Byrd Trio and the Annapolis Brass Quintet first performed together in Annapolis in 1984.  The result was 'Byrd & Brass' which was an instant hit with audiences and critics alike, resulting in the 1986 Concord Jazz CD "Byrd & Brass," the 1989 Antigua CD ​"Christmas with Byrd & Brass" and more than fifty performances throughout the United States.

A Byrd & Brass Christmas includes an array of music ranging from 17th century Christmas pieces and traditional settings of carols to contemporary stylings of popular holiday music.  The Charlie Byrd Trio and the Annapolis Brass Quintet performed together as Byrd & Brass from 1984 - 1994.
