"If ever there lived a complete and total master of the contrapuntal style, that man was surely Sebastian Bach.  And of his literally hundreds of imitative compositions, one collection stands apart - 'The Art of Fugue', a monumental set of some twenty fugues and canons, all based on a single musical subject.  

It is from this set that we have chosen to perform four of our favorite works -- works, we think, of incredible genius. We give you Contrapunctus number I, IV, VII and IX from 'Die Kunst der Fuge'  by Johann Sebastian Bach."
