RUDOLF JETTEL:

SOLEMN FESTIVAL FANFARE
and
QUINTET FOR BRASS
op. 105

PictureRUDOLF JETTEL Clarinetist, Teacher, Composer
Rudolf Jettel (1903 - 1981) completed an apprenticeship as an instrument maker and studied clarinet and composition at the Vienna Music Academy, among others with Viktor Polatschek (1889–1948).  Jettel was the principal clarinetist with the Vienna Philharmonic and taught at the University of Music in Vienna  from 1957 to 1978. He worked intensively on the construction and development of woodwind instruments. His compositions include various chamber works for string quartet, wind quintet and brass quintet and, in particular, his educational works for clarinet and saxophone are highly regarded by woodwind professionals.  Rudolf Jettel was awarded the 1967 Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Salzburg and the Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria.
